DJ Superstar Jay & DJ Love Dinero @ East Manor

What's up everyone, went out last night. Had a somewhat of a good time. Music was great and all, but barely anyone wanted to take pictures! I don't understand it! Everyone comes out all decked out, show some teeth, crack a smile yall. But thanks to everyone who wanted to shoot some flix, especially the two girls that I pulled out of their car at the end of the night in the rain.

Pic of the Day (Tourism)

I tried to refrain as much as I could from shooting tourists. But today I made the exception. This shot started forming first with the little girl in the shot. I was snapping away as her mother let her play in the fountain. Next the boy in the foreground followed, and only tonight as I'm going through my shots to make a selection; I find the man in the background standing in the water as well. Clearly all three subjects, tourists. New Yorkers by nature have that "I don't give a fuck" in them, but tourists...sheesh they have that extra "I don't give a fuck" or as my man Joe would say "don't give a flying fuck" in them. Tourists will do just about anything, whereas a New Yorker would have not made a fool of them self in that dirty nasty fountain water. Anywho, that's my rant for the nite. Enjoy.

Ah the 80's

As a true 80's baby (ahem 83), I remember all these ABC Public Service Announcement, and NBC "The More You Know" videos. All cheesy. My favorite was one the one with Kevin Scott where at the end this dude with this baritone voice says "To Kevin Scott, and all the other kids who take the long way home. We hear ya, don't give up." Classic. It started when I was watching "The Office", and they were looking at Sexual Harassment videos in HR. It led me to find one to laugh at, and I came across this nonsense. The message is not nonsense because sure, child molestation does exist and disgusting. My problem is with making these videos sooooo cheesy. This one just creeps me out. Can't like the Cohen Brothers, or Hype Williams direct one? That would be boss!

I'm Buggin...

Just when I got something good going, I go head and mess it up. My blog and pics of the day were going good, and then...they fell flat. I remember, this is how my blog first started. I haven't posted in a week. I'm sitting here retouching, doing the thing I love and I'm neglecting how I'm going to get my work out to the world. I have a lot on my plate, and don't want to unload all my thoughts on you guys, so I'll leave you with, this is only the beginning. Continue to look at the world through my lens, and just maybe you'll see the vision that's up in this crazy noggin. Since I don't have any "new" pics I'll leave you with a head shot I did a week ago. The lovely Autumn.

Monday Pic Of the Day (Strength)

Last week, I tried to start having a word of the day to go with my photo of the day. It was more difficult than I had expected. Last week when I chose the word strength. I want to show a NY police officer, but most of them just seemed too casual, not "strong" enough. Then my idea moved to maybe an EMT worker. But again, not strong enough, the job titles, symbolize strength, just the uniform wasn't filling out the way I wanted it to. So then strength was then scrapped. Now as I was walking today, I saw a couple of dudes near Central Park, practicing for the show they put on outside the park. And this was where I saw strength. The power in these dudes arms and legs to dance this way is amazing. But not only did these dudes show strength, they show courage, to perform, and interact with the crowd while they perform. I've noticed that most people I know are frighten when standing up in front of large audiences, so watching these dudes perform I found the strength I was looking for, because it starts within you. Enjoy.

Nike is on a roll...

Yet another viral video by Nike that is pretty dope. Over the years I can't think of better campaigns than Nike has been putting out. From the Fun Police (throwback - look it up if you ain't up on it), to the crazy dribbling in Nike Freestyle, or the different LeBron character, up until the Kobe Lebron MVP (Most Valuable Puppets). And again with their parody of West Coast funk/gangsta music era, we have the Hyperizers. KD, AI(the other one), Shard, and Mo Will's jheri curil is sweeeet. Love it!

Friday Pic Of The Day (Destruction)

I would have liked to end my week on a lighter note, but such is life. This morning I decided to walk to the train station as I was running early. This turned out to be on of the best decisions I made today. If I would have got on that bus, the traffic from this collision would have made me late and thus I would have missed the train. I ended up saving money, getting exercise, and getting my shot of the day. Ironically, it was a truck that went unharmed that was the culprit for the destruction you see here. What if one of these drivers had left the house a little earlier like I had this morning?

I Am Peter Parker...

I owe you guys a pic of the day for Thursday I know. It was a pretty slow day, and I wanted something different, but then this comical (no pun intended) came into play. It was our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man signing autographs! And since I was the only picture to snap a shot of Spidey, that makes me Peter Parker. But wait, if I'm Peter Parker, then I am also Spider-Man...nevermind. The title for this post sounded a lot better in my head!

Wednesday - Pic of the Day (Universal Language)

Today's pic came right outside of Central Park. I am not usually drawn to tourists because they all have that touristy "look" Just not fitting into the essence of New York City, but the tourism is a staple of this great city. I came across this guy getting his portriat drawn. The tourist was from Italy and knew not one work of english and neither did the asian artist. But somehow we were able to communicate through gestures to find common ground and produce this image for you guys. Enjoy.

WTF???

I really don't know what to say about this right here. I mean, I love my share of ignorant trendy music, a la "You're A Jerk" but something just doesn't sit right with me about Mistah Fab's "Hit Me On Twitter." Maybe because it sounds too much like "Blame It on The Alcohol" minus um T-Pain and a star studded video. Oh yeah, by the way...follow me on Twitter lol. What? Of course I have one too.

Tuesday - Pic of The Day

Ah, my pic of the day came really late today. The shot I missed, I'm most upset about, was the man riding the unicycle on his way to work through midtown traffic. As a way to compensate, I said to myself, I'm going to shoot a dog today!!! In my travels, I hadn't found anything until the end of the day. I stopped the lady dead in her tracks with the question "Um, can I take a picture of your dog?" As weird as the question was, the answer was equally as weird. And there he stood, just waiting, albeit he was too cool to even look at my lens. It's coolio doggie, I see ya!!! Enjoy.

Um..eeeeeehhhhhhhhh!!!!

There is so much wrong with this picture that I don't even know where to begin. What I want to know is how this showed got pitched in the boardroom. Like it's the Crypt Keeper meets Barney x 80's aerobics, meets LSD induced tripping! Yeeeeah....that sounds about right.

Vic Damone - Out The Bottle Shoot

Some more Queens love!!! Yesterday I stopped by my boy Vic Damone's video shoot for his single Out The Bottle featuring Juelz Santana. It was fun as rap video shoots usually are. Shout out to Shatek on the beat! Song is fire. And Kaboom (Scenario), I know the vid is gonna be sick.

Monday - Pic Of the Day

Ah...the luxury what is the Long Island Rail Road. On my way in this morning, I figured I'd take the railroad for old time's sake! While I was waiting I snapped one the passing trains whizzing by. Enjoy!

Music Monday...

I simply cannot wait for this album! I know Jay-Z has Blueprint 3 Coming, and of course the lightfooted Drake's album is also highly anticpated. But I am really looking forward to Lupe Fiasco's L.A.S.E.R.S album. Lupe imo is one of the most gifted emcees the rap game has to offer right now. Shining Down featuring Matthew Santos is pretty dope. But after watching this teaser for the album, I can't wait until December!!!!

Sunday - "Pic Of the Day"

It's a gloomy Sunday afternoon here in NY. I'm stuck in my dungeon, so I figured I'd go for a midday shoot. I was looking for some inspiration but once I ventured outside, I saw nothing but tourists, which as a New Yorker irks me to death! I went upstairs in my building and took a couple of snaps of the city from my POV. I shot black @ white hoping to keep the mood dark. Let me know what you think. Be back tomorrow with Monday's pic of the day

RIME NYC

I was talking to my boy Cov from RIME the other day about today's trendy fashion. He made a valid point. He said that this point in time, fashion is reminiscent of the late 80's early 90's style. Fitted jeans, colors that really stand out. It's like watching the old Martin Intro. I feel it gives people more individuality and a change to be bold and daring! If you're ever in Brooklyn stop by RIME and pick up some pretty dope gear.

Only In New York...

Today I started to shoot a "pic of the day". On my lunch break I took my camera with me along 5th Avenue en route to 5 Guys Burgers, which very well may be the best burger in NYC. I was looking for something to grab my eye amist the sea of tourists. On my way back with my lunch in hand I saw a homeless man. Pictures of homeless people always fascinate me because of the pain the photos emote. What caught my attention was the large rat he had perched on his shoulder, kinda like how'd you see a parrot. I gave him a few dollars and asked him if I could take a couple of shots. He agreed. What happened next made the scene. He had asked me if I had ever seen anyone put a sword or a snake in their mouth, things of that nature. I told him, yes, but only on television. He said "Imagine combining those ideas with a mouse" Yes, he then proceeded to stuff the mouse (rat, that thing was huge!!!) in his mouth. I snapped away as he posed and flung him around like a toy in his mouth and in one motion right back onto his shoulder. Great shot, I just wished I had finished my lunch first! This is Saturday's pic. Tomorrow is a new day and this will be hard to top.
